The Story of Boone's Cave (from park flyer)
In 1750, Squire Boone left Pennsylvania to bring his family to fertile Yadkin Valley of North Carolina. Amoung the group was his son, 16 year old Daniel Boone. Local legend has long held that the Boone's spent their first year in North carolina at, or near, the site of the present day Boone's Cave Park. Popular local stories tell of Daniel and, perhaps his family, using the cave above the river for various purposes.
The marker at this location is a reproduction, replacing the stolen marker, which was previously mounted on the monument.
