Montara State beach is located approximately 20 miles south of San Francisco off of State Highway 1. There are two access points to the beach, both very steep. Park at the old Outrigger restaurant (closed down). There are no bathrooms. The surf can sometimes be quite large so consulting a tides table is recommended during high surf season, (late fall to early winter).
