This statue was erected in 1922 by the W.M.Dean Marble Company of Columbia, Tennessee, in honor of David Crockett, who represented Lawrence and Hickman Counties in the State Legislature in 1821-1822, and was Justice of the peace in Lawrence county in 1818. He was also a member of the First Commission of Lawrenceburg in 1819.
