This cast iron milepost has been partly hidden by the tarmac of the pavement it is set into. The distance to Greta bridge, assuming there is one, is hidden. It is 13 miles to Greta Bridge. I am assuming this a milepost and not direction post as this is the discription given on Ordnance Survey maps. The NR on the milepost refers to the days when the road it is sited on was part of the North Riding of Yorkshire and not County Durham as it is today.
