This pedestrian suspension bridge has a span of 360' and was recently constructed by Sahale LLC out of Seattle, Washington for Kapalua Resort, specifically for use by those accessing the zipline course. It is Hawaii's longest suspension bridge. With the bridge deck being 200 feet above the Kaopala Gulch's bottom, making it the highest suspension footbridge in all of the United States. The gulch below is dry most of the year. During the rainy winter months there is flow through the gulch of which there is a waterfall drop of 80 feet just 10 yards upstream and 120 feet below that of the bridge. With the bridge being approximately 1600 feet in elevation above the pineapple fields and up into the mountain, the views from the bridge are quite impressive and offer a 180 degree view of the West Maui coastline with Molokai and Lanai Islands off shore. The towers themselves are 52 feet in height. The deck is five feet wide making the bridge usable for mountain bicyclists as well in the future plans of the resort.
