Devils Golf Course in Death Valley National Park is one place you don't want to loose your golf balls.

The strange gnarled and twisted salt towers of the Devils Golf Course is a
favorite of the tourist crowd. Just a short detour off the highway, it's
well worth the stop to wander around and wonder how these strange shapes were
made. But be careful, one slip on this course, and you could end up with
some nasty cuts and bruises...or worse. If you're lucky, you might even
find a couple of golf balls like we did (we CITO'd them out of course).
There is also an Earth Cache at the same location (Badwater
Runs Deep Earthcache) and a bit more information on the process on how these
salt towers are made. The USGS also has an excellent article on Devils
Golf Course Geology.
