Born Sharon Christa Corrigan on September 2, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. As part of the Teachers in Space Project she was inspired by the Apollo moon landing program, and wrote on her NASA application form that "I watched the Space Age being born, and I would like to participate!".
This waymark is found in a small park in downtown Houston where two space shuttle memorials are found - one ot the Challenger, the other to the Columbia. The park is just across the road from Tranquility Park where a number of space related plaques are found. The park where the memorial is found is quite, the plaque is somewhat isolated from other items and provides a little solitude for a moment of reflection.
