Having survived road construction and progress for many years, the tombstone and slab marking the grave of William Gibson hangs onto the hillside of rural Highway 11 in St. Clair County, AL. Dated from the year 1827, the grave is thought to be one of the oldest graves in the county.
Rumors of Mr. Gibson's demise include death by disease, death by duel, and even a rumors that a great deal of money was buried somewhere nearby.
