Although named as "Pottruff Cave", this is not a cave. It is a sinkhole that has exposed an underground stream with a micro falls as the water plunges to lower levels of the strata. The default image is of the ground itself.

Located within Eramosa Karst Conservation Area, which opened in June of 2008 but is still in the process of completion are many fascinating geologic features. This is one of those features.
The conservation area is open to the public and operated by the Hamilton Conservation Authority. The park has many sinkholes, crevaces and springs throughout and some caving options as well.
On this map, the location of this Waymark is the furthest point on the left found on the yellow trail.
At the posted coordinates you will find a location where a sinkhole broke through the stone by erosion exposing one of the underground streams which flows along the water table in the park. You can easily see where the water cascades down further into the ground. The spot is easily accessible from the sanctioned trail system and is also highlighted on the maps. A large rock that just slightly teeters as you cross it allows a great view of this rare exposure to a stream. The other fortunate thing is that you can see the change in direction of said stream.
To say that the provided images do not do justice is an understatement, as all of our group stood in awe of nature's beauty and force. This is one spot that is best seen in person on a sunny day.
