Organized 1779-1780 by Dr. Thomas Clark, father of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church in the South. The first church, then called Cedar Creek, was alog building 2 miles S.E. The congregation was renamed Cedar Springs in 1790. It moved to it present location and built a frame church in 1791. The present church was built in 1853. The cemetery includes graves of many early members, several past ministers, including Dr. Thomas Clark and my great grandfather, Rev. Joseph Brandon Muse.
