A very nice hexagonal Victorian looking Post Box on Cathedral green near the world famous Durham Cathedral in the North-East of England

This is not actually a Victorian box. It is a replica, which I understand was installed some time in the late '80's. There is a photo of when it was 'unveiled' to the public in the Royal Mail Delivery office on Belmont Industrial Estate in Durham as evidence of this point. Also if you check the overall condition inside and out of this Penfold box you can see it is not as old as it claims to be.

Tell us about the area the post box is situated.: The Cathedral Green is a large grassed area on the north side of Durham Cathedral. The Post Box is sited in the North-East corner under a few trees.
