For years the house was owned and preserved by the Junior League in Rome, where everybody thought Ridge was a Cherokee hero. Especially the founding fathers of the city, who moved in and did their founding just as soon as the Indians were pushed out of their way. Many Cherokees, however, see Ridge as a traitor.
