The memorial can be found outside the Amherst Municipal Building in the front lawn. It consists of a granite stone with the following inscription:
Amherst Fire Council
A tribute to the living
A memorial to the dead
Dedicated July 1973
In front of that is another granite stone laying on the ground with the names of those lost. They include:
Henry W. Dodge (1894), Michael Zbieski (1934), Rudolph Lutz (1956), John Bresnahan (1966), Edward Guarino (1970), Frank Wilkinson (1970), Clarence Schoures (1975), Mitchell E. Spoth (1985) and George Karl (1990).
