Corps of Discovery II – Washington, MO, is located on the south bank of the Missouri River, in Rennick Riverfront Park, a few blocks northeast of downtown Washington, Franklin County, MO. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (with assistance from Buesher Frankenburg Associates) set the disk in 2004, and it was dedicated on May 24, 2004. It is in the NGS database at PID = DG7732: (visit link) . The 12-inch commemorative brass disk is flush with the surface, about 20.6 feet east of the middle flagpole of three flagpoles near the site, about 33 feet east-northeast of a monument to Robert Frazier (a member of the Corps of Discovery), and about 10.2 feet south-southwest of an interpretive sign that describes navigational problems that the Corps of Discovery experienced on their journey upriver. The disk does not have any identifying stamping other than the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: CORPS OF DISCOVERY II – 200 YEARS TO THE FUTURE – PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. To reach from downtown St. Louis, MO, go west on Interstate 44 for about 38 miles to the exit for Missouri State Highway 100 (Note: MO 100 joins I-44 from the northeast about 35 miles from St. Louis, and leaves I-44 to the northwest a few miles later. Take the more westerly exit for MO 100 to Washington.) Go northwest on MO 100 for about 11 miles to the intersection with Missouri State Highway 47. Turn right and go north on MO 47 for about 0.8 miles to the intersection with Fifth Street. Turn left and go northwest on Fifth Street for about 0.75 miles to the intersection with Lafayette Street. Turn right and go northeast on Lafayette Street for about 0.35 miles to the parking area for Riverfront Park and the disk on the right. Recovery first logged at the Geocaching datasheet for station 50, PID = JC0585.
