Mehrdad Dashti, a 31-year-old University of California student, held 33 patrons of Henry's hostage at gunpoint. He was apparently undergoing a psychotic episode. During the seven-hour standoff with police, he shot one patron and wounded and terrorized others. Henry's was and is popular among fraternity and sorority members, and Dashti targeted individuals who appeared to fit this description. Early on the morning of September 28th, he was shot to death by police.
