I was not able to get a photo with both the temple and cemetery in the same shot. The cemetery fronts the main street (which is just a small neighborhood street) and the temple can be accessed by driving down the side street of 34th Street. THe pic of the temple I've included was taken from the top of the cemetery hill. Their is parking across the street at the Mormon Trail Visitor Center. I stopped on a Sunday. There were plenty of cars in the lot - but traffic at this point is not bad at all.
This cemtery was in use from 1846 to 1948. It is the one visible reminder of the Mormons flight from Nauvoo, Illinois in 1846. The group decided to stop their migration west at this site and erect a tidy and temporary town called Winter Quarters.
The cemetery contains a memorial plaque with quite a bit of history, and a statue of 2 grieving parents illustrating the long and dangerous trip that the Mormons attempted.
