Every year, the city of Wenatchee and the surrounding area gather at Walla Walla Point Park for a 4th of July celebration and fireworks display.

There is live entertainment before the fireworks. When the fireworks begin, themed music is played to the display.

Thousands of people attend, and bring blankets, chairs, and food to lay out on the large grassy areas of the park. There is a fair amount of parking within three lots and the street, but will fill up towards the end of the day. The city provides free bus service from nearby parking areas. Plan on extra time after the display for getting out of the parking lot.

The fireworks are set off on a little island in the Columbia River parallel to the Walla Walla Point Park shoreline, about 100 feet offshore.

Since the fireworks are set off in the Columbia, the display can be seen from many areas. Another popular alternative that is more laid back and has less noise (but still some crowding), is on the other side of the Columbia River. The Apple Capital Loop Trail has several entrances along the river to come and watch. The park in these areas is less cultivated, so there is no groomed grass to lay on. Perhaps, plan to bring chairs for better comfort - although some people still use blankets.
