CITY HALL, a massive red-granite structure occupying the block bounded by
Plum St., Central Ave., Eighth St., and Ninth St., houses all the departments of
the city government, the police and traffic courts, and various boards and
commissions. The Romanesque building was completed in 1893. For all
its handsome exterior, City Hall has long been deficient in modern facilities.
The cared marble stairways pass stained glass windows showing allegorical scenes
of early Cincinnati, but most of the original murals adorning the walls and
ceilings have been painted out.
