The Sky Tower is an observation- and telecommunications tower. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, and the 12th tallest member of the World Federation of Great Towers.
Orbit is the main restaurant in the Auckland Sky Tower. The Sky Tower, contains two restaurant levels (one, 'Orbit' with revolving seating, turning 360 degrees once every hour)and one cafe level, as well as two observation decks (including some with sections of glass floor).
It is a beautiful building in the central business district of Auckland. The hotel where I stayed was only one block from the Sky Tower. There are many activites (besides eating) in the Skytower including bungee jumping off the building and walking around the outside perimeter of the building.
