De Antwerpse Zoo is één van de oudste dierentuinen in heel Europa, gelegen vlak naast het station Antwerpen-Centraal op het Astridplein. In de volksmond wordt deze dierentuin ook wel 'de Zoo' of 'de Zoölogie' genoemd.
Op 21 juli 1843 werd de Koninklijke Maatschappij voor Dierenkunde Antwerpen (KMDA) gesticht. Hieruit is de Antwerpse Zoo voortgekomen. Tegenwoordig bezit de dierentuin ruim vijfduizend dieren, verdeeld over bijna duizend soorten. De Antwerpse Zoo trekt zo'n 1,5 miljoen bezoekers per jaar en is daarmee de belangrijkste toeristische attractie in België.
In 2007 werd de Antwerpse Zoo uitgeroepen tot 'mooiste en best bewaarde 19e eeuwse stadsdierentuin ter wereld', vanwege de mooie parkaanleg en oude architectuur die er terug te vinden is.

It started on 21 of juli 1843 when the KMDA was founded. Later it became the Antwerp Zoo. Nowadays there are about 5000 animals from almost 1000 different species. It has some 1,5 miljoen visitors every year and is therefore one of the most important touristic attractions in Belgium
In 2007 the zoo was awarded to the 'most beautiful and best preserved 19e century city-zoo in the world'. It got this award because of the beautiful park and old architectuur.
