The Grounded Sun sculpture was made by Ivan Kozaric. It was first displayed in 1971 next to the Croatian National Theatre. Since then The Grounded Sun sculpture changed location several times. In 1994 it was placed in its current location in Bogoviceva Street in the center of Zagreb. It is about 2 meters in diameter, and it is made out of bronze.
Interesting fact related to this sculpture is that one another sculptor, Davor Preis, in early 2000s additionally placed 9 models of the solar system planets around Zagreb. Those additional models together with The Grounded Sun scuplture form a model of the entire solar system. Additional models' sizes and their distances from The Grounded Sun sculpture are all in the same scale as The Grounded Sun sculpture.
