"I checked the history we have here in the office and it looks as though the 1884 building is the same as it is now with additions.. “…latter part of fifties or early sixties, two new Sunday school rooms were added to the back of the church. A part basement was built and an oil furnace was installed.”

The community was once called 'Montgomery's Switch' after the owner of the property the railroad ran through but was later renamed to Wyndale by the officials of Norfolk and Southern. The church was built on land donated by Major D.A. Jones in 1884.
