From Westfir Oregon to Estacada Oregon this byway traverses 220 miles of "some of the best "up-close and personal" views of thundering waterfalls, lush ancient forests, rushing whitewater, and cool, placid lakes."
This location focuses on the Office Bridge.
Spanning the North Fork of the Middle Fork of Willamette River (yes that is the official name) the Office bridge is the longest covered bridge in the state measuring 180 feet in length. It is also the only covered bridge in Oregon to feature a covered walkway attached to one side. This Howe Truss bridge was built by Westfir Lumber Company in 1944. The mill was located on one side of the river and the mill office and town were on the other bank. There is a new picnic area and restroom located on the south side of the bridge with restrooms and trail head access to a few hiking trails. (
