Short History Of Church:
The present Saint Peter's Lischey's United Church of Christ congregation was founded in 1747, with its church building of today built in 1896. The earlier name of the congregation was known as Saint Peter's Lischey's Lutheran and Reformed Church.
The records of the modern age Lischey,s Church are extremely sparse, although it is known that the congregations there have worshiped in four separate buildings since its founding, but the dates of the erections of the buildings are not known.
The first church (log), was erected on the farm of Jacob Lischy, the congregations first minister. The second church was a frame building located in the southwest corner of the old cemetery, and a third church was a brick building located on the southeast corner of the old cemetery. This present building was razed in the spring of 1896, and dedication services held on December 13, 1896.
