Built in 1852 by the French inhabitants of the township of La Grange and dedicated by the Catholic Church in 1854 as a mission. It is the first church of any denomination in Stanislaus county.
The church is surrounded by a small cemetery.
Services are still held Saturday evenings at 5:30 p.m.
