Along the right walk in the park is the U.S. MARINE CORPS MEMORIAL, consisting of a 500-pound bronze reproduction of the traditional Marine emblem--globe, anchor, and eagle--resting upon a rough block of Beverly granite.  An inscription plate on the pedestal states that the memorial was given to the city in 1921 by Dr. Benjamin Ricketts in memory of his son and all other Hamilton County marines who died in action during the World War.

~ from Cincinnati: A Guide to the Queen City and Its Neighbors, 1943, Tour 3, pg. 163

The memorial is  still in Lytle Park.  When I-71 was placed in the 90's the interstate was placed underground in this section which preserved the park.
