This huge Celtic Cross is found on the grounds of the Our Lady of the Sierras Shrine. Appearing to be carved out of timbers it is actually hand sculpted. Even close up, the detail is deceiving. It was completed in 1998. The letters V, I, T and A are found on the arms of the cross. VITA means life. Admission to the shrine is free and open to the public from 9am to sunset daily, 365 days a year.
Driving directions: From Sierra Vista take Hwy 92 south to Stone Ridge. Continue onto Prince Placer Road and then turn right onto Twin Oaks Road. Parking is located at the gate below the shrine. A trail that takes visitors through an
outdoor Stations of the Cross leads up to the shrine.
