Narrative Description: The Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern Michigan Railroad Station is a rectangular, side-gabled Italianate structure with walls of brick, measuring fifty-feet long by twenty-two-feet wide and topped by a shingled, bracketed roof. A bay window projects from the facade near the entrance. One gable-end wall features a small round window directly under the gable peak and a sign above the windows that reads "Howell."
Statement of Significance: The Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern Michigan Railway Station is a well-preserved example of 1880s public architecture and was a significant stop along one of two Michigan railway lines serving Howell. Built in 1886, the railway station was constructed to serve the Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern Michigan route that ran from Ann Arbor to Frankfort. The station continued to serve the railway until the early 1970s when the Livingston County Historical Society purchased and restored the depot. Currently, the society operates the station as a museum.
