Deakins Line Stone #1 (1910, 3-County Intersection) - U.S. Historic Survey Stones and Monuments on Waymarking.com

I believe some people are mistaking the large boulder over the springwater of the Potomac for the Fairfax Stone itself. The plaque on it refers to the marker, but the phrasing makes me believe it is not the original marker itself. Instead, the 1910 re-survey of the Deakins line put up the pylon that exists in a poor condition today. On the stone you can see what appears to be the marking F/X, which I think refers to the point as belonging to the Fairfax Stone. Since the Fairfax Stone was the original longitude designation for western MD, I suppose that the 1910 Survey agreed that they'd better use that as their starting point as well, even though the MD border really begins a mile or so north where the Potomac turns east.

Since I wrote this, another stone hunter, "seventhings" has agreed with my theory as well as "Geo Trailblazer". Thanks to both of them for their consultation! Good teamwork.
