Old Stone is located in the small town of Salisbury, NC. The vines were planted in 2001. Most of their wines feature their locally grown muscadine grapes. Other wines, such as the Riesling, are made from North Carolina grown grapes. They produce over 50 tons of grapes each year. Regardless, all the wines have the light, clear taste characteristic of this vineyard. Tasting their white muscadine wine is like biting into the grape! There are a surprising variety of wine blends for such a young, small winery. Each wine we sampled had a simple sophistication with fruit undertones of peach, pear, apricot and apples. The tasting room is staffed with friends and relatives of the wine maker and they can tell you the best places to visit in the historic town. The wine maker's mom led us through the tasting one Sunday afternoon. She was very knowledgeable about wines and wine making, We left with plenty of wine to share with friends.

Overall Comments::
This winery has the best white mucsadine wine I've tasted. Other wineries may do a better red muscadine wine, but the Semi Sweet Muscadine here is hard to beat. Also, you will not find a better peach wine anywhere.
