Lake Windermere is the largest stretch of water in the Lake District National Park of Cumbria England.
The cruise begins at Lakeside, travelling up the lake to Bowness Bay at Windermere town where passengers can disembark to visit Windermere,or remain on board to Ambleside,at the far Northern end of the Lake.
The lake is 11 miles long, and the trip from Lakeside to Ambleside, including the brief stop at Bowness will take about 90 minutes,
the views from the boats can be stunning in clear conditions, the views of the Lake district mountains are especially breathtaking.
Passengers can sit in the heated interior of the boat or sit outside on the deck as we prefer, just make sure you are well wrapped up if it's early in the season.
A freedom of the lake ticket allows unlimited travel on the steamers for the full day, also good news is that dogs are allowed free of charge if accompanied by well behaved humans.
