The Boone County Courthouse as built between 1906 and 1909. This is the third courthouse for Boone County. The earlier courthouses were built in 1828 and 1846. The columns from the 1846 courthouse (which was razed at the completion of current courthouse) are standing at the end of Eighth Street in front of the courthouse.
The current courthouse was designed by John H. Felt in a restrained classic design. The building was constructed by contractor J.A. McCarter, Macon, Missouri. The cost of the building was about $100,000.
