Arthur R. Bowman Dam was completed in 1962 by the Bureau of Reclamation. The dam is located at about river mile 72.5, about 25 miles upstream from Prineville, Oregon. The dam is 800 feet long and about 180 feet high (sign says 245 feet but is incorrect). Prineville Reservoir covers about 3,000 acres and contains almost 155,000 acre feet of water.
