The tree portrays Alice in Wonderland characters by Lewis Carroll; this famous author attended Rugby School in the 1940s. Andrew Frost carved this tree in June 2007 and even carved little book pile seats for children to sit on and hear stories.
Rugby is famous for William Webb Ellis, creator of Rugby football. It is also the home of Sir Frank Whittle, who invented the jet engine. The stories of Tom Brown's Schooldays are written by Thomas Hughes and was first published in 1857, based on Rugby school.
