Built in the 1890s, after the railroad came to Punta Gorda, the ice plant was integretal to the local fishing industry. Over the years, it has changed owners and business, including but not limited to Kazwells Furniture Store. For a while, it sat empty, but now is occupied by The Icehouse Pub, which recycled the original roof timbers damaged from Hurricane Charley into tables for patrons.
