The P. Joseph Raab County Park is a 73 acre park established in 1993. About a 1 mile hike is required to get to the mine sites.
From 1854 through 1888 the 73 acres of land was known as the York Iron Company Mine site, which was one of 170 iron ore mines within York County. Mining operations stopped in 1888 at this site.
In the early 1990's the land was donated to York County by Modern Landfill and Recycling, a Waste Management Company.
The former iron ore mines are home to four species of bats that live in the same enviroment. Bat gates/doors were constructed to cover the openings to protect the bats and their enviroment.
There is 1 parking area located along Hoff Road at coordinates N 39 50.920 and W 076 48.715.
