Pilgrim's Rest was one of several Primitive Baptist churches organized in Pickens County, Alabama, in the mid-19th century. The congregation was established in 1853. The existing building was constructed in 1882, with the first service being in November of that year. The building, both inside and out, maintains the austere and plain design common in Primitve Baptist churches. The church held regular services until 1982. It is now open only special occasions. It was listed on the Alabama Registry of Landmarks and Historic Places on October 1, 1982.
