Very interesting, but almost odd, museum dedicated to telling the story of how the Allied POWs lived their daily lives in captivity while building the Thai Burma Railway.

On the bank of the River Kwai, across from Chung Kai War Cemetery, and built of bamboo in the same U-shaped architecture as the buildings in the actual camps, this is one not to miss. Although it's not overpowering as a museum, there are a lot of artifacts and newspaper stories related to the lives of the Thai-Burma Railway POWs of WWII. Rather than a typical building, the museum chose to try and make visitors feel as though they are in a POW hut like the soldiers and sailors would have lived in during their capture. It is cramped and would be very hot if not for fans spaced around the walkways. I admit, it is interesting to walk through the bamboo "hut" and hear chickens pecking on the roof. The name JEATH comes from the first letters of the countries represented in the camps: Japan, England, Australia, America, Thailand, and Holland.
Opening hours: 8:30 - 4:30 daily

Open all year: Yes
