This course was built in the late 1970's or very early 1980's when Canada had the ParticipACTION government program to motivate Canadians to exercise. An initial ad in 1973 compared the health of a 30-year-old Canadian to a 60-year-old Swede. This sparked a national discussion on the state of physical education in Canada.
The Kinsmen of Canada took this on as a national project with several clubs building fitness parks like this one in various places in Canada.
The course here consists of 12 stations where you do exercises using wooden apparatus. They are placed along a system of trails that make up a 2.1 KM circuit. There is also a 1 KM jogging trail around the outside of the course that is still in the trees. The only place with instruction is the first station advising you about warming up and stretching before you start.
I must admit, the only time I've been in here is to do the two caches that are hidden along the trails and I could use the exercise.
Recently, there have been a couple fitness instructors running a 'Boot Camp' style of program using the stations.
Because the course is in the trees, it's impossible to show the whole course. I have taken a picture of the first 2 stations. To log a 'Visit' on this waypoint, feel free to find the other stations and show them with your log.
Number of Stations: 13 total with the first one for warm up and stretching.
