The shifts consists of two consecutive ten hour days, followed by two consecutive fourteen hour night shifts. They then have the following four days off. A Call force of thirteen members including three officers also provide Fire and EMS protection for the town.
The Fire Department Administration includes a full-time chief and two captains. The Captain of Safety and Training maintains the profession levels of the personnel, while the Operations Captain oversees personnel and department operations.
The Department is self-dispatched from its own Police and Fire Communications Center, located in Safety Complex. They dispatch on 33.78 MHz with a PL of 136.5. The Bedford Communication Center also dispatches the Bedford Police Department.
