Ellwanger & Barry Nursery;
accepted Jan. 13, 1888.
Park Commission formed
May 1, 1888.
The land for the park was donated by Ellwanger and Barry. They invisioned an arboretum at the park and donated every species of tree and shrub growing at their nursery. A walking tour map of the park can be found at www.landmarksociety.org The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead.
