This memorial is located on the lawn of the Butler County Courthouse located in El Dorado Kansas at 205 W. Central El Dorado Kansas. I occasionaly travel to El Dorado for supplies and have passed this memorial any number of times. It easily stands out while traveling down the street and very adequately represents, I believe a profound reminder of the service every current and past member of our armed services has and is making on behalf of freedom and liberty for more than just those of us who know of it so well.
The memorial features a centerpiece referred to as "Sovereign Wings", which is a six and one-half foot bald eagle cast bronze sculpture.
The memorial wall is a six and one-half foot high brick semi-circle. Six pieces of black granite are inset in the wall and feature the Great Seal of the United States of America and individual emblems of the United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy.
The walkway is made up of 33 mahogany granite panels. The first panel contains the POW and MIA emblem. Each of the remaining panels is divided into brick-shaped sections and engraved with over 900 names of veterans, those currently serving, and non-veterans.
The west section of the Celebration of Freedom Memorial is often referred to as the Liberty side. The centerpiece to this section is the Miss Liberty statue that was originally presented to the Butler County community by local troops of the Boy Scouts of America on June 14, 1950.

Description of Memorial:
The memorial can be easily viewed from the street even while driving past the Courthouse. Parking is available in several areas around the area. A series of photographs are needed to accurately depict the complete memorial.
The memorial was first pointed out to me by a dear friend who knows the area far better than I. As a previous member of the Air Force myself going back to 1974 I wished of course to stop and take several pictures of this very elaborate memorial, to those who have served and for those who are currently serving as well, to support the causes of Freedom and Liberty where so ever it is found to be lacking.
