Gideon Pitts was a Honeoye abolitionist and friend of Frederick Douglass. Gideon's daughter, Helen became Douglass' second wife. The website below lists New Yorkers active in the Underground Railroad and this site is on the list.
The Mansion is not open to the public, it is a private residence, but the Mansion Market, located in a building next door is open from May-October selling plants and local produce.
