Yes, those are really mail boxes and yes, this really is a post office. The location is the village of Lehde in the heart of the German Spreewald Delta, a remote wetland with 800 miles of channels. Only a few places (like the post office) have a road connection, most of the area is accessible only by boat and everything, including the mail is transported in punts.

The main coordinates are for the featured picture, but if you take a boat tour, you can find those neat water-mail boxes pretty much everywhere.

Postal worker Jutta Pudenz has been delivering mail in Lehde for the last 17 years, punting 6 miles every day, rain or shine. She recently retired and the job was taken over by a new mail carrier named Andrea Bunar.
