Luckenbach, Texas is a known tourist destination, heck is there actually anybody who hasn't heard of the place? Anyway, we were visiting the town and it appeared that pickin', playin', dancin' and drinkin' were the major activities in this place.
During a conversation with the nice lady behind the counter of the general store/post office/saloon we inquired if there was anything else to do in town. We were informed that out back is a footbridge which crosses the creek, just follow the path to the top of hill and when you see the big old cypress, meander down that way and cast a line.
Not having any fishing gear with us, we still followed her directions and stumbled upon one of those special spots. The creek channel sort of meanders through here, and it had carved out a hole right under that tree. What might be in there, we didn't have a clue, but even if you don't catch anything, it is one of the prettiest spots in this part of Texas.
