Visitors come from all over the world to see the famous Bridge On the River Kwai. Perhaps they also visit Hellfire Pass about 30km away. Most make time to visit the war cemetery dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the ANZACS armies. But few notice the little garden tucked away behind ancient gates that is home to a sadly neglected monument erected by the Japanese army in 1944. On my second trip to Kanchanaburi I stumbled upon the park and while walking around the monument I came upon this peace pole that has been a more recent addition. Was glad to see a peace pole in a place that was the scene of so much of the war.
