Designed by noted architect Paul Rudolph, one time Dean of the Yale School of Architecture and proponent of the "Brutalist" style, this building was constructed from 1969-1974. At first derided for its unusual style and plaqued with a series of roof leaks from shoddy construction, the building "outgrew" the complaints and still serves the as the city's public library.
