Nimitz Japanese Garden of Peace, Fredericksburg, TX - Japanese Gardens on Waymarking.com

Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, architect of the American victory in the Pacific during WW II, unflinchingly reached out to the Japanese people after the war. To show their gratitude, the military leaders of Japan presented a traditional Japanese garden to the American people in his honor. As with all traditional Japanese Gardens, the three basic elements, stone, plants and water are represented, and include black and white stones, green plants, a flowing stream as well as other items.

The garden's high point is an exact duplicate of Admiral Togo's garden meditation center. Admiral Togo is considered to be Japan's greatest naval hero Togo's and to duplicate his garden shows the respect the Japanese had for Admiral Nimitz.
