Yes this piece of equipment likely saw service on the rail line out of Hawthorne Nevada. For a time this location was the only ammunition depot of the Unites States Navy. (visit link)

It's later service in Utah was at Freeport Center where the Navy had a Naval Supply Depot. The Navy ceased operations there in 1963.

Further information about this piece of equipment was provided in an email exchange with the museum archivist.

"Here's the info on the old snow plow originally built for the Navy for use at Mina, NV probably using an old steam locomotive tender frame and trucks. It was then used at the Freeport Center in Ogden until sold for scrap. The Heber Creeper (visit link) purchased it from a scrap dealer and did the conversion. We are looking for the plow that used to be on it."
