This zoo is 20 km north of Barrie.
The original site, established in 1967, was on two acres exhibiting mainly birds and reptiles. Over the years, the zoo has grown to include more than 300 animals from around the world, such as Australia, South America, Africa and Asia. This zoo is excellent for smaller kids, not too much walking and lots of shaded trails and you get close to the animals, but don't forget to stock up on bug repellant especially on a rainy day.
There is a live interactive presentations of reptiles and other animals. Touch a python, boa constrictor or monitor lizard.
Kids can feed animals in the petting area. Watch the rainbow trout jump as they feed them. Graceful swans and other colourful waterfowl inhabit the pond and don't forget about the lions, tigers, jaguars, monkeys and much more.
There is a snackbar, picnic area and children's playground.
The zoo is open 7 days a week from late May till Thanksgiving(Canadian Thanksgiving).
